"Need admin approval" message while connecting to Planner Premium

When you sign in to Project Story with a Planner Premium account without tenant global admin permissions, admin consent will be requested if this is the first time the Microsoft 365 tenant is used.

Clicking the "Grant Consent" button opens the "Need admin approval" window.

To complete the first sign-in, a tenant Global Administrator must grant consent to allow Project Story to access your Microsoft 365 tenant.

Admin consent is required only once per tenant. After consent is granted, any Planner Premium account from the same tenant can be used to sign in to Project Story.

You can grant consent using one of the following methods:

1. Contact your Microsoft 365 Tenant Administrator and ask them to open the following URL in a browser while signed in with a Microsoft 365 Tenant Administrator account:

https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/adminconsent?client_id=bddb955a-993e-4d63-bcc2-a8c75247910a

2. Following this link, the Permissions requested (grant consent) window will open. When the administrator clicks 'Accept', the Project Story app will be granted permissions to access your Planner Premium environment.

3. After redirection, the browser tab can be safely closed.

Once consent is granted:

  • The Project Story for Planner Premium application is added to the Microsoft 365 tenant.
  • The app can be managed from Azure -> Enterprise applications.

After consent is granted, users with a Planner Premium account without tenant global admin permissions can sign in to Project Story without additional approval.

Option 2: Grant Admin Consent by Signing In to Project Story

1. Contact your Microsoft 365 Tenant Administrator and ask them to sign in to Project Story using a Microsoft 365 Tenant Administrator account.

2. During sign-in, the Permissions requested (grant consent) window will appear.

3. After clicking the ‘Accept’ button, the Project Story app will be granted permissions to access your Planner Premium tenant.

Once consent is granted:

  • The Project Story for Planner Premium application is added to the Microsoft 365 tenant.
  • The app can be managed from Azure -> Enterprise applications.

After consent is granted, users with Planner Premium accounts without tenant global admin permissions can sign in to Project Story without additional approval.

Permissions Requested by Project Story

When granting admin consent, Project Story requests certain permissions to operate with Planner Premium and Microsoft 365.

Delete

Note: All permissions are delegated permissions and apply only while the user is signed in. Project Story does not access data without user interaction. Permissions are used solely to authenticate users and access Planner Premium data needed for reporting.

The following permissions will be granted to Project Story:

Microsoft Graph:

  • email
  • openid
  • profile
  • offline_access
