Managing access to Projects migrated without groups in Project for the web

When source Project for the web projects without any groups are migrated to a target Project for the web environment (using the "Create groups with source group names and settings" option), the migration account will automatically become the owner of these projects. In this scenario, only the migration account and system administrators will have access to the projects.

To provide access to other users, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to the Environment URL where the Project for the Web app is provisioned. If you need help finding the Environment URL, click here for instructions.

2. Open Project Power App.

3. Select Plans (Projects):

  • Locate the Plans section (or Projects) within the app.
  • Find the project you want to share and open it.

4. Click the Share button.

5. Select Manage Access.

6. Add Users or Teams:

  • Add the desired user(s) or team(s) to the project.
  • Assign appropriate permissions (such as Read, Write, or Full Control).
  • Click Share to confirm.

7. After assigning permissions, Click Save to save the project to ensure the changes take effect.

It is also possible to select several projects at once and share them in bulk. For this, select the required projects and click Share on the panel above.

Add Users or Teams:

  • Add the desired user(s) or team(s) to the project.
  • Assign appropriate permissions (such as Read, Write, or Full Control).
  • Click Share to confirm.
